In accordance with Russian Federation law, to get a Russian tourist visayou must have a tourist invitation.
A tourist invitation consists of two parts: the tourist confirmation letter (“подтверждение о приеме иностранного туриста” in Russian) and the travel (tourist) voucher. These documents contain the information you need to fill in your Russian tourist visa application: the name of the travel organization, its address, reference and confirmation numbers.

If your trip is planned for up to 30 days, choose a single-entry (or double-entry) tourist invitation. If you would like to visit Russia several times within a 180-day period, choose a tourist invitation for 180 days (multiple-entry). For most Russian consulates, it is enough to have a copy of the invitation (including consulates in India, Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, and others).

Print your invitation. Take a color photo (passport size 35x45 mm), a medical insurance policy, and other required documents (a full list can be found on the website of the Russian consulate or visa application center in your country).

Fill out the electronic visa application form on the official website of the Consular Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at visa.kdmid.ru. In the form, indicate "Tourism" as the purpose of your trip. Specify the details of the hosting travel organization listed in your invitation: its official name, address, reference number, confirmation number (voucher number), and the hotel(s) where you will be staying.

Finally, visit the Russian consulate or visa application center. You will normally receive your Russian visa within 5–7 business days after your appointment.
